Standardized testing and technology? Wed, 30 March 2005 05:59 Go to next message
Hello,

I'm curious how preparation for standardized testing affects the teaching of technology at K-12 schools. Just prior to state tests or college admissions exams, do tech teachers as well as the core subject teachers at your school focus solely on success with the test? I have worked at different schools where some would stop everything and teach to the test, even in computer class, and others where only the main subject teachers (or classroom teachers in elem) would do test prep.

My experience with standardized testing while I was in school was that it affected every aspect. This is because funding was recently attached to the test results where I was going to school. Teachers would then link every exercise they could to the test.
