We spend a great deal of our lives in the classroom and I don't think that time is used wisely. Much of it is spent learning facts that will later be forgotten and skills needed to be a productive member of society are ignored or given less emphasis. I think that the purpose of education is to give students the skills they need to lead meaningful and happy lives.
What do you think the purpose of education is? How can curriculum be changed to better serve that purpose?

I think the main purpose of education is be make peoples more civilized and social.Social in terms of responsibilities of a Man or woman take to improve society and nation. What Contribution an individual can make to others growth and welfare..that will be main motive of education according to my believes...
Now days there are many types of education emerging like Online Education Part-time Class room, just to make sure everybody get chance to know more and can explorer in various areas of education.
I completely agree with you as to the main reason for education. It is THE foundation of a productive and civiled society of charitable and open-minded citizens. When the Cold War ended and Communist Russia came crashing down, America turned her attention towards the Middle East becuase it was a society dominated by uneducated males...look what happened.
